Throwback Thursday: Cliff Richard

Throwback Thursday: Cliff Richard

New to 2017, each month we'll be taking a look back at the career of one of your favourite artists from the Dreamboats era.

This week, Cliff Richard and The Shadows take centre stage!

First hit song: 'Move It' 1958

Highest chart position: Nine number one hits between 1950 & 1970!

Fun fact: It was "Move It" writer Ian Samwell who suggested that Cliff, formerly known as Harry Webb, be surnamed "Richard" as a tribute to Webb's musical hero Little Richard.

Pop quote: "Of course, when I started my career, like anyone else who was 16 at the time, we were besotted by the rock-n-roll scene from America, and all I was interested in was having a career of my own."

Dreamboat favourite: 'Do You Wanna Dance?' from 1962
