My story: I grew up in the late 50s and 60s when my gorgeous big brothers Gavin & Andrew were listening to all the 60's songs on an old record player as they were getting ready to go out to the dancing. Hopefully to get a girlfriend and a wee winch. Although I was too young to go with them, I would watch them & our aunties from next door, get ready with relish, wishing I was older, now it's the opposite. Aunties wore mini skirts, pinafores, sponge rollers in their hair, white plastic pull on boots and smelling of 4711 eau de cologne, In Love fragrance by Norman Hartnell & gorgeous Evening in Paris perfumes. I used to get their old bottles with a few dregs left in oh what joy! The lads wore Brut, Old Spice, Brylcreme, slim leg trousers, slim Jim ties & winklepicker shoes. There dancing moves were so funny but hip back then. Long after they left to get bus I would keep listening to fabulous 60's music, loving it.. which I swear is still the best music ever and I've lived through many era's. It's still my favourite choice to listen to, evokes happy memories, . My friends & I played games like hopscotch, had roller blades, swapped scraps from an old musty book. We read Jackie, Bunty and a fab music magazine called a few years later went to our own record hops, winched and danced the night away to sugar sugar by the Archie's, Bay city rollers etc. The 60's is the best era!
